Purpose of the Role

The incumbent will have the responsibility to deliver quality and sustainable water and waste water treatment services and solutions to our clients.

Job Duties

  • Layout design of water works (water and/or wastewater treatment works)
  • Technical supervision of operational water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Conduct process audit of existing water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Pilot trials of water and waste water processes
  • Conduct site assessment with the aim of selecting appropriate water and/or waste water solutions
  • Preparation of reports, P&I diagram, control philosophy detailing of findings and recommendations of the above assessments
  • Literature review
  • Select appropriate technology based on site specification conditions and requirements
  • Consult with clients regarding appropriate treatment options
  • Design and costing of preferred treatment plant
  • Preparation of proposals
  • Technical /tender  support
  • Troubleshooting during commissioning, processing and plant operations
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience / Minimum Requirements

  • BEng or similar degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering. Must be professionally registered as PR Eng with ECSA
  • Minimum 10 years in water and waste water treatment related to municipal services. Must have process design experience working in projects covering municipal services mainly water and wastewater treatment
  • Legal knowledge:  Employee Equity Act, Labour Relations Act, OHS Act, Design compliance standards, Blue Drop and Green Drop
  • Software:  MS Office, MS Project, Biowin /simio/GPSX or similar
  • Quality Management:  ISO 9000 compliance
  • Language proficiency:  Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
  • Travel: Occasional travel to site, intercontinental and internationally
  • Driver’s license:  essential

Salary: To be negotiated (inclusive of benefits) depending on relevance and duration of experience.

Reports to: Lead Engineer

Travel: Occasional travel to site, intercontinentally and internationally.
